“Who needs WORK?” Speculative Design

This year our Speculative Design challenge was on the topic of LABOR / WORK. It took place at the MA in HCI‘s program at IDC.  We choose this theme as it consumes such a large part of our life; it often brings meaning our life and other times it reveals injustice of our society.  It provides us with an interesting perspective on possible future societies.

We raised many questions regarding the possible future of labor, from the most obvious or fearful ones to the wildest utopian visions; Will robots replace human labor? what could happen in a culture without work? What if working would be a luxury activity? Can we develop a new type of economy? Can we use technology to find the ideal work-life balance?

How might the economy of labor change in the near future?
