Elderly Healthcare Center: Design Research

The component of empathy is at the core centre of Design Thinking. While the Human-centred design approach is usually aimed at interactive system and usability, however it can be applied to any domain and is most helpful in architecture.

We visited four different elderly homes’ medical units, and spent some time with the people that live or work there. Using observations, shadowing methods and interviews, we gathered local knowledge and valuable insights. This is a key component to the design which follows.

During the on-site research we shadow and observe the routines and culture of both staff and dwellers

After gathering the participants’ knowledge, goals and needs, we present our insights to the team and ideate possible strategies to bring these forward in our design proposals.
