Last week we organised this awesome, hands-on fanzine workshop with the brilliant artist, Katya Krasner. It was another collaboration with our Speculative Future TLV and it took place in the super-geeky-fun working space of TAMI, (Tel Aviv Maker Intl.)

We learned a lot about this awesome medium of fanzine; about its history, the values that it supports, its cultural identity and playful distribution – but most important, we learned how to just make it. Our creative challenge was focused on the Bats of Tel Aviv, a growing community which thrives on the Ficus trees of the city’s boulevards, but also in abandoned buildings, underground parkings and large commercial centres. What would the city look like when bats become the Dominant Species? How can we imagine our relationship with bats? How can we benefit from their superpowers? and how might we collaborate with them as a society?
Our beautiful speculative bat fanzine gathered work from all participants of the workshop, and unfolds the imaginary urban scenario of our shared city through words and images:
In it you can find delightful bat ideas: unusual bat technology, speculative social movements, design concepts, innovative services and even bat related poetry.
Thanks to all the participants and contributors!

The zine got the title “Bat Time” and in Hebrew ״עת לעטלף״, look for it around urban bats’ hubs!
