
In the example above, I present the information collected of the local habitants; the movement around the central commercial street in Hod Hasharon, in order to locate the centre of activity, specific behaviour, community culture and hence to identify the needs and desires of the residents.
A past case study for human-centre approach toward the design of public spaces: we based it on the “classic” Design Thinking focused on the human perspective. We started with an hands-on investigation of the given area, observation of the activity and movement throughout the whole day. Then, we continued with conversations with people and informal interviews of familiar characters. Even though the conventional representation expresses a non-human point of view (plans / maps / bird’s-eye view), we have to fill it with the data which is most relevant to the people, and most of all, pedestrian.
